How to Get Your Ohio License
Complete Driver Education
Complete the required 24-hour driver education course through an approved provider.
Get Your Temporary Instruction Permit
Pass the BMV knowledge test and receive your TIP at age 15½.
Log 50 Hours of Practice
Complete 50 hours of supervised driving, including 10 hours at night.
Behind-the-Wheel Training
Complete 8 hours of professional in-car instruction with a licensed instructor.
Pass the Road Test
Schedule and pass your Ohio BMV road skills test to earn your license.

True Drive Academy is now approved through Ohio's Drive to Succeed scholarship program via the Ohio Traffic Safety Office (OTSO). State-funded scholarships may help eligible Ohio youth ages 15½–20 cover behind-the-wheel training costs.
